                               IGBAJO POLTECHNIC HOST PRESS CONFERENCE IN LIEU OF HER 2^ND CONVOCATION CEREMONY

Igbajo Polytechnic host press conference in lieu of her second (2^nd ) combined convocation ceremony held at the Board Room on Wednesday 30^th October , 2019.

During the press meet, the OSBC media Correspondence , Mr. Tunde Fanowopo introduced the presence of the gentle men of the press from various media outlets . Amongst these men were : Mr. Soji-Adeniyi ( State Correspondence –The Nation newspaper ) , Mr. Rafiu Hammed (TVC), Mr. Sanusi (Rave .FM) amongst others.

Following this stance, he (Mr. Tunde Fanowopo ) also recognized the presence of the convocation Committee.

Rector’s Welcome Address

The Rector, Dr. Mrs . C.O .Odejide welcomed the gentle men of the press for  responding to her call in pursuit of the success of the  convocation ceremony.  Further more, she enumerated the order of event for the convocation ceremony , which was held between 30^th October -7^th November ,2019.

She stated that on 6^th November ,2019, there wasl be a commissioning of Chief Olajide Oyewole’s Drive , (Chairman , Board of Turstees) and an honourary award to be given to him.

Subsequently, she stated that there was  conferment of honourary Fellowship Awards for students and Philanthropist on convocation’s Day.

In light of the above , the pioneer Rector , Engr. Ademola Adesuyi , a representative of the  Governing Council also reiterated all the points raised by the Rector (Dr. Mrs. C.O .Odejide).

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS  SEGMENT

1. What is the strength of the school in terms of Academic excellence and financial involvement to market the school?—Mr. Soji Adeniyi – The Nation newspaper).

Responding, the Rector . Dr. Mrs. C.O .Odejide reacted to the question satisfactorily . In her remarks, “ the relief of the environment i.e the Topography has been the major challenge confronting the school”. To this effect , horticulturist are working seriously by planting trees and carpet grasses so as to beautify the school, a just  completed drainage system has been effected  to combat the issue of Topography.  In addition to this , the school Management is making plans on ensuring that the road network is good by using interlocking blocks.

“To this effect , The Association of Proprietors of Private Polytechnics in Nigeria has held series of meetings with the Federal Government on how to help improve the inadequacies od Private Polytechnics in Nigeria, she said”. 

Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola visited the Chairman , BOT ( Chief Olajide Oyewole ) in his residence to discuss ways of improving the needs of the IGBAJO POLYTECHNIC’s environment .

Enumerating the strengths of the Polytechnic, she said;

*Igbajo Polytechnic is blessed with Dedicated Lecturers & Staffers.

*Payment of fees are installmental

*Entrepreneurship facilities are available

*There is a conducive electronic-library .

*There is no strike as students who have fulfilled the requirements of the Polytechnic are mobilized for NYSC.

2. What are the Academic records for graduating students ? --- Bola Bamigbola (Punch Newspaper)

               Responding , Igbajo Polytechnic is graduating three academic sessions. These are: 2016/2017,

                2017/2018 and 2018/2019 set of graduands.

Based on records , there are one thousand , five hundred and sixty -nine graudands from the three academic sessions.

Other areas of strengths are: Students of Science Laboratory Technology ably assisted by their Lecturers are currently carrying out a research on how green plants can be used for medical purposes , researches are on-going to ensure that wastes found in the school’s environment are being processed into something useful . Our students are making great names within the country and Diaspora .

In conclusion , the Chairman , convocation committee , Mr. I.O . Fakunle gave the vote of thanks and Engr. S.A Bello said the closing prayers at 1pm and the press conference ended on a glorious note.
